For Those Who Desire To Make Strategic Investments of Eternal Significance
'The longer I live, the more I am convinced that only a small percentage of people ever discover the joy of investing their lives in a cause of eternal significance. In our day and age, for the vast majority of people, when they die it will be as though they never lived. Recently I was challenged by the words of George Washington Carver, 'No individual has any right to come into the world and go out of it without leaving behind him distinct and legitimate reasons for having passed through it.'
I have a feeling that multitudes of people approach the end of life's journey with a desperate cry - 'I wish I had done more things that would live on after I am dead.' I think very few will wish for more money, power or fame in that moment. They will wish they had done something that mattered for time and eternity, something bold and purposeful that leaves a legacy making a difference in their generation and beyond.
John Maxwell has written, 'None of us knows when we will die, but any one of us, if we wish, may select our own epitaph.' In other words, we choose our legacy. Our impact on future generations will be determined by the relationships we build, the actions we take, and the investments we make. EQUIP's Living Legacy Club was established especially for those who wish to make strategic investments that will impact generations yet to come. Living Legacy is a special giving level designed for those who wish to help enlarge and strengthen the current international ministry of EQUIP and help endow the ministry for future generations of leaders. A Living Legacy partner commits to give at least $100,000 per year to EQUIP with a goal of giving one million dollars to EQUIP over a period of ten years or less. The donor has the option of designating a portion of his/her giving toward a permanent endowment fund that will perpetuate the training of Great Commission leaders in future generations.
Todd and Sheryl Duncan (pictured below with their two sons) are charter members of the Living Legacy Club. Here is his testimony of why he has decided to invest at this level:
