Who will fulfill the Great Commission? Who will confront global human needs? Who will change the world? These are three questions EQUIP uses to address the broad Christian public around the world. They are also questions that have challenged me during my internship with EQUIP.
I am truly blessed to have had this opportunity to serve EQUIP during these six months. God has given me a new perspective on what He is doing in this world and the call He has placed on my life. The passion for global leadership development expressed by the staff and the team around the world has increased my enthusiasm for this cause. For me, I know the process in getting here was arranged only by God.

In 2007, God called me to return to graduate school after just recently obtaining a master’s degree. However, this time my direction was different. He placed Regent University on my heart and told me that this was the next step in my preparation as a leader. I had no idea what was in store for me, but I planned on spending 7 years with the university. Three years would be dedicated to obtaining a Masters in Divinity and four years in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.
I heard about EQUIP in 2008, only two months after being at Regent. When I went to the website and caught a glimpse of what EQUIP was doing globally, I was hooked…this was it! This past spring, I applied to the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership at Regent. At the same time, I was interviewing for an internship with EQUIP. Within a week, I was offered both a seat in the summer 2009 cohort and a six month internship with EQUIP.
Through these personal experiences, God has shown me the true meaning of this Scripture, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9). Just one year ago, I never would have thought I would be interning for an international Christian organization. I had my plan, but God changed the direction in a few months.
I encourage you to seek God in determining your role in this great call to equip Christian leaders who will change the world. Allow God to lead you as you confront global human needs. And above all, join us in developing effective servant leaders who will participate in fulfilling the Great Commission globally.
