::China Summit::
Over 30 missionaries, marketplace leaders and pastors gathered at the EQUIP headquarters on July 22nd in Atlanta, GA for China Summit 2009. Throughout the conference, stories were shared about lives being changed by the Million Leaders Mandate (MLM) training in China. MLM is currently being used in the registered church, rural churches, urban churches, universities and the marketplace. Training is being delivered in conferences as well as via internet and radio.
MLM is empowering Chinese pastors to be more effective leaders by implementing Biblical servant leadership principles and raising up a team around them. A Chinese leader at the Summit shared the story of two rural Chinese men. Just two years after moving into a large city to start a church, their church had multiplied into 300 churches with over 10,000 people. This type of explosive growth in the Chinese church has created a huge need for Christian leadership, and EQUIP is partnering with individuals and organizations to train the next generation of Chinese Christian leaders.
In the marketplace, a retired business man is leveraging his Wall Street experience and Chinese heritage to reach business professionals in China. During the Summit, he shared about the recent opportunity he had to lead a Chinese business executive to Christ after teaching MLM in his company in China.
Doug Carter, Senior Vice President of EQUIP, best captured the heart of those attending the China Summit when he said, “God has called us from so many places, walks of life, backgrounds, and denominations to come together with oneness of heart to focus on reaching the huge nation of China for Christ.”

Several months ago, Michael Shelley invited John Hull and Tom Atema to the studios of Toccoa Falls Radio to introduce EQUIP to his "morning show" audience. The invitation came as a result of the North Georgia FM station's intentional partnership with EQUIP to train leaders around the world. Michael and other members of the station's leadership team believe that training Christian leaders is central to the task of fulfilling the Great Commission. They are making their audience aware not only what God is doing around the world, but also how EQUIP is positioning Christian leaders as they plant churches and grow congregations.

Leaders from across Latin America will convene this fall to begin Volume Two of the Million Leaders Mandate curriculum. Volume Two will make its initial launch in Guatemala City, Guatemala on August 1, 2009. Training will continue throughout the fall in the countries of Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
Volume One, launched across Latin America in 2006, contained the foundational leadership principles serving as the basis for growth of a leader. Participants experienced a three year journey in leadership training and development applying leadership principles to their lives in an effort to further the Great Commission.

 Many in our EQUIP circle of friends and network of partners have been - and continue to be - hit hard by these pesky and perilous economic times. Several have been knocked down by these challenging times - but refuse to be knocked out.
As we juggle the economy with our hands, our feet can simultaneously find themselves in the sinking sands of poor health, the loss of a loved one, a marital crisis or a wayward child. In short, an ailing economy is no respecter of some of the other "tough things" life always seems to bring our way. While I'm optimistic about life, I also try to live my life realistically...and realistically, I know that there are a lot of folks that are struggling right now.
