::EQUIP’s Training Now Available Online!::

Introducing BEE World and the Internet Biblical Seminary, Strategic Partner of EQUIP By Jim Nickel

Never before in the history of the church have so many come to Christ in such a short period of time. Worldwide, approximately 50,000 new churches are formed each year. This creates a tremendous need for trained pastoral leadership.

One of the keys to meeting this need is Biblical Education by Extension (BEE). BEE has been used to successfully train leaders for the church in restricted-access countries for over 30 years. By applying the multiplication process of the Apostle Paul outlined in II Timothy 2:2, BEE facilitators and their students have been able to train over 50,000 leaders.

One student commented, “Before, our preaching was bad! Whatever we could come up with, we preached. But now this training has impacted how we prepare, given us confidence, and brought spiritual truth and nourishment to our people.”

Now BEE World (www.beeworld.org) has developed a way to exponentially increase the number of leaders that can be trained, through a partnership project called the Internet Biblical Seminary (IBS).

EQUIP is partnering with BEE World to make the Million Leaders Mandate (MLM) curriculum available in an interactive format on IBS. Volume One is currently available in English, and by the end of 2009 will also be available in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, and Hindi.

The online version of the MLM curriculum, as well as dozens of other Biblical training courses can be accessed at www.internetseminary.org.

Let’s be honest--the process of developing ourselves and others as leaders is hard work. We know that a percentage of those who attend the first Million Leaders Mandate conference will drop out before conference two. But Paul gives us a wonderful example of why it is so important to stay the course in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7. He says “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

In some countries, EQUIP has had a slower journey than others. The United Kingdom is one of those countries where it has taken more time for Million Leaders Mandate to flourish. Numbers were not what we had hoped for in the beginning. Some Associate Trainers wondered if the investment of time and funds to train would have a worthwhile return. Most, however, hung in there and soon realized the British leaders they were training really wanted to develop themselves and others—they wanted to become better leaders.

In a recent trip to England to talk about where these leaders are in the process and how EQUIP could help them in the future with Volume Two, some exciting stories emerged. Let us share just two of them with you.

John Hull, President/CEO, EQUIPMy love for radio goes back to my childhood. Even as a kid, I can remember my father listening to the recently departed Paul Harvey. My father loved radio too. Dad has had a weekly radio Bible teaching program for over 60 years!

When I graduated from high school, I went to the University of Georgia, enrolled in the College of Journalism and four years later had a degree in Radio. I worked my way through college and seminary working at radio stations.

In my senior year in high school, 1976, Ronald Reagan was running for president. He came close to getting the nomination, but it would be another four years before he was elected president. After his loss, Reagan promised he wouldn’t go away – and he didn’t. What Reagan did was begin a daily radio commentary that played all over America. I can remember Reagan’s commentaries when I listened to the radio every afternoon. It added value to my life. He was ... read more.

Over sixty percent of the people on our planet live in Asia. China, the most populous nation, is rapidly becoming one of the most influential. Winds of change are blowing everywhere in this vast nation of more than 1.3 billion people. While the government remains in the hands of the Communists, free enterprise and capitalism are beginning to flourish throughout the nation. The government is hostile toward all expressions of religious belief, yet the number of Christ-followers steadily escalates.

During my recent visit to China, it was my joy to attend several worship services and to teach Biblical servant leadership at several training sites. I heard three themes repeatedly:

1. The Christian community is now experiencing huge growth in the cities. Only a few years ago, nearly all believers were in rural areas. Many were poor and... read more.

Saturday, March 21st was an exciting day in Toronto as John Hull taught ‘Today Matters’ to 240 leaders! Pastor Sam Chan of the Richmond Hill Community Church hosted the event. Pastor Sam provides EQUIP leadership training to his leaders 3 times a year with Dr. John Hull as the trainer.

The Richmond Hill Church is one of the largest in Canada with leadership development being a main priority! This year they opened their doors to pastors, ministry leaders and Christian business leaders to join them! For many it was the first time that they had experienced EQUIP leadership training.

Pastor Meikle of Rhema Christian Ministries brought seven of his staff with him and commented that, “It was an excellent day for our team. The content brought tremendous value.” They are now taking the training they received and training other leaders in their church! The equipping and multiplication of leaders is taking place in Canada!

The next EQUIP Training day will be Saturday, June 27, in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
