Your Piece - Africa

Emmanuel has completed Million Leaders Mandate (MLM) Volume 1 in Accra, Ghana. Feeling led to be released by his church and private transport business, Emmanuel set out to fulfill His God-given call as a leader.

Emmanuel’s call is to reach the unreached people of Dangme and the Fulanis people, a nearby nomadic group. Emmanuel targeted two villages in which to plant churches. Now there are 40 people who attend the church in Mampon.

Bundase is a village in the jungle with many idol worshippers. Now there is a church in Bundase. Now the people sing and dance to praise the Lord. They have erected a grass thatched-roof hut for meetings. Emmanuel founded a ministry called International Outreach Ministries. He has a vision to plant churches in two more villages this year, using MLM notebooks to train new leaders every week. You can make a difference for people like Emmanuel.

Leadership training is taking place across the continent of Africa. For a few examples of the training, read about two of these countries, South Africa and Kenya:

South Africa
Leadership Training

South Africa has the largest AIDS populations in the world, with about 27% of South Africans having HIV or AIDS. The AIDS crisis has impacted every area of society, leaving children without parents, teenagers in confusion, and now leaving a missing generation of adults. John Thomas, an influential South African pastor said, “AIDS is the greatest crisis facing the world, but it is also the greatest opportunity for the Church.”

EQUIP is partnering with Walk Thru the Bible South Africa and Living Hope Ministries to train godly, courageous leaders in South Africa who will be equipped to lead the church and influence the country in this crisis.

Two such difference makers, Wendy and Wilcox, were trained through Million Leaders Mandate Volume 1 training in Johannesburg/Soweto. Growing up under the Apartheid, they were taught that they would never be leaders. They said MLM changed their thinking that they could be leaders. As a result, they planted a church, started two preschools, and a bakery in Lawley, an informal settlement, to make a difference in their community.

Kenya
Leadership Training

Kenya has been a politically stable country in East Africa for many years, until the violence that erupted after the controversial Presidential election December 27, 2007. According to reports, violence broke loose resulting in over 1,000 deaths and around 200,000 people displaced. The violence was ended through international mediation. EQUIP Country Coordinator, Stephen Mairori, commented that it will take time for Kenya to heal from this devastation.

EQUIP has launched Volume 2 of Million Leaders Mandate in Kenya in July 2008 to train top leaders in Nairobi and Eldoret, who will in turn train leaders in their spheres of influence. The Kenyan leaders are very hopeful about the impact of this training. One bishop who attended the EQUIP vision-casting said this training is very timely for what they have gone through as a country.

Your investment will help train influential leaders in Kenya who will influence the nation. Make a gift.
