There is no doubt that resources influence. The power of the printed page is that it does not stop with the page – it keeps on giving. It is available for continued study, meditation, application, and to pass on to others. The power of the printed page becomes exponential when put into the hands of leaders because leaders multiply as they teach others leaders. That is why one of EQUIP’s core values is to provide resources needed for effective leadership and fruitful service.
EQUIP partners with Book of Hope, an international ministry with the mission to affect destiny by providing God’s Word to all the children and youth of the world. They have distributed over 500 million books worldwide. Book of Hope is EQUIP’s international printing partner and has printed approximately 6.9 million EQUIP Million Leaders Mandate (MLM) notebooks and 245,000 John C. Maxwell resource books distributed internationally.
The Million Leaders Mandate notebooks contain leadership principles taught by John Maxwell in the areas of the spiritual formation of a leader, the skill formation of a leader, and the strategic formation of a leader. We have heard over and over again of the power of these Biblical, servant leadership principles to transform lives.
Just recently, we heard the story of Pastor Julio Chatata from Cusco, Peru. He attended the Million Leaders Mandate training in Arequipa and in September graduated as he finished the 3-year MLM process. At the training in Arequipa, he received 10 MLM notebooks printed by Book of Hope to use to train others. Pastor Julio went way beyond the 10 notebooks and trained 160 leaders in his church in three years! Three years ago his church had only 150 members, but now, with the vision of MLM this congregation has increased to 500 members. He is teaching MLM in Quechua, the Inca’s language, which was translated by Certified Trainers in Peru!
For MLM Volume 2, more and more local coordinators have started printing the notebooks themselves.
 In Beirut, Lebanon, Country Coordinator Camille Melki prints MLM Volume 2 notebooks to use to train leaders from Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. Just prior to the last MLM conference, four pastors from Iraq were denied entry into Lebanon for the training. After the conference, Khalil, a Certified Trainer who attended the training in Lebanon, went into Iraq and took MLM notebooks to these four Iraqi pastors. Khalil gave them Volume 2, Notebook 1 “Today Matters” and encouraged them to use the notebooks to teach others before Train the Trainer #2 this fall.
One of our partners in Asia, Equipping Leaders for Asia (ELA), prints MLM notebooks to use throughout 12 Asian countries. Kitbok, is an ELA trainer who trains leaders using the MLM curriculum in northeastern India. Kitbok trained two Meitei leaders, who translated the notebooks into the Meitei language. They photocopied the MLM notebooks to use to train 269 others, who are each training at least three others. From EQUIP and ELA’s partnership, four generations of leaders are being trained through MLM notebooks in two languages, only one of which was translated by EQUIP! Kitbok said, “The impact of MLM has been astounding in a way that it has so quickly reproduced leaders.”
Putting the printed page into the hands of leaders is a key to multiplying leaders. A church planter in Egypt said, “In America, a leadership book is seen as a product to be sold. But in the Middle East, we see the EQUIP books and resources as bread for a starving person, as hope for a drowning man, and as health for a sick child. Thank you for investing in our lives. You give us hope.” EQUIP is committed to providing quality resources to leaders who are committed to training others.
