Chuck Harrison: A Living Legacy

I grew up in a lower middle class home. My parents were strong Christians, especially my Mom. She taught me to tithe, beginning with my first allowance, and on her death bed, challenged me to never let money control me! She gave her time, money and talents as a nurse to help many people in her workplace, the church, and community. She always said that no one can out give God. Through the years, I learned from her example the truth in that statement.
God has blessed our family so very much, and we have tried to not only tithe, but to support causes, churches, people, and organizations as we have been led by God. Throughout our lives, my wife Kay and I never traveled overseas or participated in world missions.
When we were invited to EQUIP’s Pebble Beach event, we went to play golf and enjoy the beach … but we found so much more! We discovered the worldwide ministry of EQUIP. The very first time we heard of the Living Legacy group, I looked at Kay and suggested that each of us write down a dollar amount; and if our numbers matched, we would take this as a sign from God to be involved. We both wrote “$100,000 annually”, and we have been faithful to keep this pledge and give even more to EQUIP as God continues to pour out both financial and spiritual blessings upon us. We hope to continue this until God takes us home.
For several years now, we have also been involved in EQUIP’s Million Leaders Mandate teaching in Lima, Peru. My pastor and friend, Don Wilson, and I have served together as Associate Trainers. We have been so very blessed to teach, learn, grow, and to love the people there. Our three year term is completed soon in Peru, but we are seeking God’s guidance as to another volunteer teaching assignment.
Glory to God! Thanks to our Lord Jesus, as well as and to John Maxwell and the entire EQUIP team, for giving us this opportunity to share His love with others. I have never seen a more strategic plan to reach the world for Jesus. Thanks for challenging us and giving us a direction to finish our lives strong and well for His honor and glory.
