Special Congratulations to The Oasis Church

The Oasis Church in Loganville, Georgia was recently honored by Outreach Magazine as one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America.  We rejoice that Oasis is but one of many Top 100 churches that are ministry partners with EQUIP.  Their story has added significance because the church is only three years old.  Already, Pastor Troy Shaw and other leaders at OC are serving as EQUIP Associate Trainers in Monterrey, Mexico and Cebu, Philippines.

The Oasis ChurchWe congratulate the people of OC and thank them for their generosity in partnership with EQUIP.  They are truly participating in an amazing story of God at work.

The story of The Oasis Church is a story of God’s grace. Officially, the church began on May 16th, 2004 in the home of Troy and Machel Shaw with just 8 people in attendance.  It was their dream to plant a church where all people of all backgrounds could find true hope, healing and restoration. That dream, that vision shaped the core values of what would quickly become one of the fastest growing churches in America – The Oasis Church.

The OC grew quickly under God’s favor and blessing. By the second Sunday, the church had moved into a nearby school Pastor Troy Shawwith 76 people in attendance. Within a year, Troy was full time in the ministry as Lead Pastor and started a second Sunday service with just over 300 people. In April, 2006 INJOY Stewardship Services partnered with The Oasis Church to begin their first capital stewardship campaign. The campaign was successful. The now 800 member church broke ground on their new sanctuary the following August.

The Oasis Church continues to experience explosive growth. By August of this year, the church had grown to over 1,700 attendees and once again found itself in need of space. The OC was able to purchase adjacent property which included 8 additional acres and a building for the administrative offices.  September brought the beginning of another construction project – the renovation of the church building to enlarge the children’s center. Groundbreaking for a new Student Ministries Center took place in October, 2007.

The Oasis at Swaziland campus launched in September as a team of 16 people, led by Pastor Shaw, traveled to Swaziland, Africa to lay the foundation for a partnership to help feed, educate and provide medical care for hundreds of children, mostly orphans.

Pastor Troy is a humble man whose preaching style is unashamedly bold as he delivers God’s Word, yet is mixed with his own unique brand of humor and grace. As he says, “Little is much when God is in it. People are hurting and what they truly want to know is that God is real, that God loves them, and they can be free in Christ. We simply offer opportunities for them to encounter the true, living God – to touch the hem of His garment, God does the rest.”
